Where Gratitude Meets Surrender: Finding Victory in Christ This November
I want to start of by saying thank you for being here! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this little monthly newsletter of mine. It’s truly a delight of mine to write for y’all and it’s a gift that I get to walk in faithfully month after month.
This month is the month we recognize as the month of thankfulness. I was intentional about being extra thankful this month by following along with Coffee and Bible Time’s month of November gratitude and generosity calendar. Each day I’m greeted with a prompt to be grateful and or generous along with a verse from the Bible that matches that day’s prompt. Some of my favorite statements from the calendar are: “Father, I acknowledge every good and perfect gift is from you”, “Lord make me a cheerful giver, free from fear.”, and “Father teach me to give thanks always in everything”. My favorite prompt from the calendar is: Thank God for one hard thing. That one was hard, but so necessary.
Along with following the calendar each day, I’ve kept a look out each and every day in my own life for things to be thankful for and man there are so many.
One thing i’m thankful for and one of the ways God has blessed me this month is through this book called Victory in Christ by Charles Trumbull. I highly recommend it! I believe it’s .99 cents on kindle if you’re a kindle reader like myself. It helped me see that true victory in life comes when we have victory in Christ and that victory in Christ comes when we lay down our entire being, desires, expectations, dreams, and whatever else we hold on to and allow Jesus to have complete and total lordship over our lives. This realization was so freeing to me and I was able to lay down some of the things I had been holding on to and that is something I am truly thankful for.
What are you thankful for this month? What is a way the Lord has been blessing you lately? I would love to hear your responses!
Here’s what the Bible says about thankfulness:
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever. - Psalms 118:29
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. - Colossians 3:15
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. - Colossians 4:2
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians. 5:18
A Prayer of thanksgiving
Dear God,
Thank you for who you are. You are mighty. You are Holy and we delight in you. Thank you for creating the one who is reading this right now. Thank you for their life. Thank you for sustaining their breath and for keeping them and theirs safe. Thank you that you have and will continue to meet their every need because you are our good good father and our steadfast provider. Help us to ‘faith it’ until we make it and to always put our trust in you because you are more than worthy.
We love you. Thank you for loving us.
In your glorious name, Amen.

But before you go… Have you heard the good news?
At the end of every newsletter from now on I want to share just a paragraph or two on what the Gospel is in easy terms so that if you haven’t heard the Good News, you can and if you haven’t been given the opportunity to give your life to Jesus, you’re able to.
Essentially, in the beginning, God created a perfect world and made humans to live in it according to His good design. But when Satan deceived the first humans, sin entered the world and has affected every person ever since. Because of this, we all fall short of God’s perfect will for our lives. That’s why God sent Jesus—fully God and fully man—who lived a perfect, sinless life. Out of His great love for us, God gave His Son to take the punishment we could never pay ourselves. Now, anyone who turns from sin and trusts in Jesus is forgiven, made right with God, and promised eternal life with Him. This isn’t something we can earn by being “good enough”—it’s a gift of grace that God freely offers to everyone.
If you’d like to receive the good news today and receive Jesus into your heart, repent of your sins (this means to turn away from your sins), believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for your sins and rose again, and then invite Him into your life as your Lord and Savior, often through a personal prayer, to become a new creation in Christ. This act of faith and surrender is a personal decision and commitment between you and God.
An example of a prayer you could pray to invite Jesus into your life is as follows but I invite you to make it personal:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen
