In Everything You Do, Do It For The Glory Of God
A Heart Set on Holiness: Choosing to Live for Christ Daily
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. - Colossians 3:17
I want everything in my life to be a reflection of my love for God and God’s redeeming grace. And what an honor it is to serve such a mighty God.
I’ve recently made a lot of changes in my life and it’s all because of the conviction I felt when I came across Colossians 3:17. It’s interesting because I’ve read through the New Testament many times yet this one verse has never stood out to me like it has as of recent.
As christians, we are called to Holiness. 1 Peter 1:15-16 says:
"But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy'".
Holiness is a process. It something we are strengthened in through the working of the Holy Spirit in us over time. Holiness is not necessarily something we arrive at instantaneously. And God knows that while we are here on earth, it is impossible for us to be holy in our own strength. It’s simply because of the fallen, sin-filled world we live in. But we can rejoice because one day the work of the Holy Spirit in us will be complete and we will not only be holy but we’ll get to stand, bow, and worship before the one who is the holiest of holies - God.
As christians, we are called to live differently. Ephesians 4:1 says:
“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called…”
These are the words of the apostle Paul to the church at Ephesus. As Christians, we are called to put on christ and live out our new lives for the glory of God, simply because of who He is. And this isn’t something we are forced to do. It’s not a demand. It’s something that we want to do because of our deep love and reverence for God.
Because this verse has been so captivating to me recently, I’ve made changes to how I live my life and how I carry myself. The Bible tells us that the power of life and death Is in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). And this applies to the words we sing in the songs we listen to. This is part of the reason why I’ve decided to listen to only christian music because when I proclaim the words found in each song I listen to, I want to sing truth and honor God in everything I do.
I have also decided to watch shows and movies that uplift rather than tear down and I am thankful for TV networks like Pureflix who make christian show and movie streaming easy and accessible.
But TV and Music aren’t all I’ve changed. I’ve also been paying more attention to what I read both in books and online and I’m looking into more whole living when it comes to christianity because I truly want to honor God in every area of my life.
I encourage you to do the same if you felt convicted by these verses I’ve shared today. I would love for us to cheer each other on during our journey!

It always fills me up with joy whenever I see daughters of God who have picked up their cross and begin to walk as we are called to do. Things don’t change unless we change from within. Thank you for sharing this message and your journey with us. I lift you up 🙏🏽💛
