Self-Love Journey || 5 Easy + Effective Steps to Self-Love
Start Your Self-Love Journey
Are you ready to start your self-love journey? These next few steps that I have put together are for you. (I’ve done all of these, and I have noticed a drastic difference) So I pray that these steps bless you and your self-love journey! Here’s to you!
Step One: Talk To Yourself!
Our words are POWERFUL. The very first step to show the world (and ourselves) that we mean business is to talk to yourself!!!
Ephesians 4:29 says this: Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Repeat this to yourself in a mirror: Today (Insert today’s date) I (Your full name) pledge to be loving, patient and kind towards myself. I will Love me for who I am, not for who others tell me I should be. I will be patient with myself when I am struggling with something. I will be kind to myself when I make a mistake. I will not compare myself to others because I know whose I am.
Then every day in the morning just say “I love you (Your full name) and I will take care of you today”
At first, it may feel weird because you may not fully believe it, but your words are powerful and the more you speak it out loud, the faster it becomes a reality.
I promise you, if you do this every day for two weeks you will notice a difference – I sure did!
Step Two: Write it out
I highly encourage you to get a journal and to start journaling! Its a fun and easy way to keep track of your progress. I use my Journal to write out my daily prayers to the Lord. You can do the same, but you don’t have to! Everyone does things differently and that’s okay! You do you!

Write down the things you love about yourself or the things that you would one day like to love about yourself.
For example, the things that I love about myself are my kindness and my singing voice. (I, of course, praise the lord for these things – and all things!) The things I would one day like to love about myself are my natural hair (Which I am actually starting to adore!) and my body (Which I am also pretty okay with!)
It’s all about accepting yourself for who you are.
Step Three: Do Something Nice for Yourself Every Day.
Some examples of these are:
- Paint your nails your favorite color
- Compliment yourself in your favorite outfit
- Take the time to start a book you’ve been meaning to read
- Watch something you like on Netflix
- Buy yourself that Starbucks drink or that new pair of shoes
- Make yourself your favorite meal!
- Take up a new hobby! (Painting, Drawing, Singing, Dancing, Blogging <– ME!, Baking, Yoga, The possibilities are ENDLESS!)
Experiment with these! You know yourself! Jot down some things you enjoy doing, and do them!
Step Four: Let Go and Let God.
God is in control of all things. Let go of those negative emotions you have stored up inside of you. Have patience with yourself. Please do not do this alone. What I mean by this is to ask for the help/guidance of God. God should be included in all things for he is the creator of all things.
All you have to do is pray! Prayer is so important because it builds our relationship with the Lord. There’s no formal, right or wrong way to pray, just talk to him!
You can talk to him just like you would your best friend! There are no rules, so just make this experience your own and commit to it. You deserve it!!!
Step Five: LOVE YOURSELF
That’s it! Now, these will obviously take time. But if you commit to making these changes to your life on a daily basis, I am confident that you’ll see a major difference in the way you see/think about yourself. Pledge to follow these steps for a whole month and then reflect on your experience! Let me know how it’s going!
