What are YOU thankful for?
When you read this, it will be Thanksgiving depending on where in the world you are. So with that, I want to wish you a VERY Happy Thanksgiving. But I must ask, what are you thankful for? Maybe your answer is something along the lines of “I’m thankful for my health, my Job, my family, etc” Whatever your answer, I’m willing to bet you forgot to include God.
You may ask, “what does God have to do with being thankful?” I’m glad you asked! As a Christian, I believe that God is the creator of all things. The Heavens, the Earth you name it, God made it. (Genesis 1:1)
Job 1:21 “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” (NIV, BibleGateway.com)
Everything we have, we have because of God’s grace. You are healthy, have that job, and have your family, etc. all because of the grace of God. (Ephesians 4:7) He made YOU in His image. (Genesis 1:27) He set YOU apart! (1 Peter 2:9) We should be thanking God above all else! Thank God for your health, your job, and your family. Thank God for all things! (Ephesians 5:20)
John 1:3 Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. (NIV, BibleGateway.com)
Maybe when I asked the question “What are you thankful for?” You couldn’t think of anything. It’s possible that you’re going through a really rough time. perhaps you’re struggling financially, physically or mentally. Maybe you don’t have good health, a job, or a family. Though it may not seem so, there is always something to be thankful for.
Why not be thankful for God? Let me tell you something, God loves you more than you can ever imagine! He loves you unconditionally no matter what! (Psalm 136:26) God will never leave you nor forsake you! Now, if those aren’t things to be thankful for then I don’t know what is!
Duteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NIV, BibleGateway.com)
We shouldn’t just take the time to thank God on Thanksgiving, we should thank Him always! It’s easy to get caught in the midst of life, never really stopping to give thanks until thanksgiving requires it of us, but It doesn’t have to be that way. Thanking God can be as easy as just saying “Thank you God for my health, job, family, etc.” no matter the time of year!
Could you imagine sacrificing your one and only son so that those who come after Him can be forgiven of sin? God did that for us! He did that for you and me. Could you imagine doing something like that and never being thanked for it? from the ones He saved? I don’t know about you, but that would hurt something fierce.
I encourage you to not only be thankful today, as we celebrate Thanksgiving but every day as you celebrate the life God has so graciously given to you.
As always, You are Loved and God Bless!
